What sets Heaven and Earth apart? Perspective, sin/sinlessness, will (Godly/human), disappointment… I’m confident in two things: God’s presence in both Heaven and on Earth, and the struggle between good and evil being played out on this orbiting sphere we call home… for now.
I’ve recently been in awe of God’s hand at work opening doors (and closing doors) in this transitional time in my life. “Seeing” Him orchestrating the events in my life is so encouraging. It gives me a glimpse of His pure Fatherly love and allows me to rest assured in the care of my Creator.
I’ve also become more keenly aware of the breadth of His love in a sinful world. The pure love of Heaven loves beyond measure, yet not without an allowance of free will. Sometimes things on earth are just messed up, out of order and not in tune with His will.
Are there occasions when His will is somehow trumped by human will (or mistakes)? Absolutely. Sometimes, the rug seems to be pulled out from under our feet and we’re left to ponder — is this a human-influenced event or God’s will? Likely, it’s both. Yet, in the moment, it can be a struggle.
I’ve committed to not letting life’s “happenings” sour my image of God or my outlook. Even when He’s clearly at work, He allows humans to make decisions that can either coincide with His will or supersede it. That’s amazing love.
I’m trusting that He will bring good out of every situation — it’s His promise, after all. I’m learning to accept that human foibles don’t alter His will, His plan nor His love. I’m learning to truly trust Him and His ultimate care… Even in the face of what appears to be poor human decisions.
Thus, I’m confidently and securely loved, learning to accept that which is Heavenly despite what is Earthly.
